Current projects where I analyse problems, understand what users need and turn that into intuitive digital products.

About

Menina Voßbruch, black and white portrait

Hi, I’m Menina

I’m Menina, a product designer with a background in media design. I design digital products that work intuitively and get people where they want to go without detours. My guiding principle: clarity over complexity.

My way into design wasn’t a straight line. Before I designed anything, I worked in merchandising and later spent several years building and testing PCs. I took something from that time that still helps me today: no fear of technology, and the habit of analysing carefully before designing anything.

As a media designer for digital and print, I designed websites, layouts and print products, from the first idea to the final artwork.

I love details, but effects and extras have to earn their place.

When I’m not working on interfaces, I’m usually somewhere in a digital world. Games have taught me more about interaction and feedback than any textbook. For me, two things decide a game: how it looks and how it handles, a menu for example. You feel straight away whether a game shows you what to do next or leaves you stuck in front of a menu. That feeling is exactly what I bring into my work.

My approach

I start with people, not with the layout. Only once I understand where things actually get stuck do I start designing. Every decision should rest on something I’ve heard, measured or tested. Whatever doesn’t help gets cut: no effects for their own sake, and no screens that only look good in Figma.

My design process

  1. Understand

Interviews and surveys. I look for the real problem before I think about solutions.

    Interviews · survey · clustering

  2. Design

The findings become a persona, ideas and a concept. Then the UI, deliberately with familiar patterns, so nobody has to learn the app first.

    Persona · ideation · concept · UI

  3. Test

Moderated usability tests show where things still get stuck. I fix those spots, for example labels that don’t match their action.

    Usability tests · refinement
